FLO(we){u}R

With Joseph Madrigal

FLO(we){u}R highlights a little known detail of American history. Terra cotta factories, which produced the remarkable facades on buildings in downtowns across the country, were commissioned to make dummy bombs for the military during WWI to be used as target practice — filled with flour and dropped by practicing pilots onto the American landscape creating white spots. The durational performance of FLO(we){u}R transforms the exhibition space into site of factory production, re-enacting the making of these clay dummies. In each city, we perform what we call poetic-undoing, activities that create new white spots on the landscape, often with white blooming seeds.
